The Big Foot Circular Saw!

The BIG FOOT  Saw was originally designed for cutting 2 plates in one pass, for example two 2x4's or two 2x6's.  It was discovered that it could cut any 4x materials in one pass! The BIG FOOT Saw will cut your 4x headers, double 2x sandwich headers, exposed beams for decks, porches, 4x4 fence posts, shape-plates and seven sheets plus of 1/2" Plywood with one cut.

Big Foot Tools is not your average, everyday tool manufacturing company, and neither is the man who envisioned the company and these cutting edge tools.  Robert Hutchings worked as a framer and carpenter for nearly three decades, and it was because of these years of on-the-job work experience we have so many of the tools we offer.

While Big Foot Saw Co. is proud to offer unique, durable tools at affordable prices, they consider every product, a work in progress.  That is, Big Foot is constantly looking for ways to do what Robert Hutchings started out doing:  finding ways to make tools tougher, stronger and lighter.

At its heart, though, Big Foot Tools remains a down-home company started and run by people who know the carpentry industry, because they have worked in the industry.  They, too, once made their living as carpenters and framers, and their unique tool designs reflect the most efficient, stable, durable, and safe designs anywhere.

Big Foot thinks of themselves as the kind of old fashioned quality tool maker that you just don’t find in the big box stores, and for them, that’s not a bad thing.

MicroJig Pushblock System

The MicroJig 3D Pushblock System: Feed and control wood on a table saw safer than you could with your hands alone and more precise than with conventional pushing devices. Its a moving blade guard for your hands and virtually eliminates kickback. Use it on the table saw, router table, shaper, jointer, and band saw for simply safer cuts.

Enjoy the ultimate workshop companion. This advanced model of the GRR-Ripper utilizes all the same innovative features of the GR-100 but comes with two additional accessories that improve the control and expandability of the GRR-Ripper System. The GR-200 is built to meet the needs of the professional woodworker or extreme hobbyist. With enhanced versatility features, the GR-200 will perform operations that were before very dicey and time-consuming with ease and speed. Whether you are making razor-thin veneer strips, building miniatures, or creating exquisite furniture you will save time, materials, and fingers with the GRR-Ripper. The GR-200 includes these additional accessories:

The Adjustable Spacer - This accessory adds increased gripping surface for tackling larger stock. It also adds one inch of cutting width to the GRR-Ripper.

The Stabilizing Plate - The Stabilizing Plate adds a new dimension of control to the GRR-Ripper. It is particularly useful when cutting small narrow pieces of stock. Excellent for affixing user-built jigs.
The Stabilizing Plate also performs as the secondary fence that travels with the GRR-Ripper along the left side of the stock. It holds the off-cut piece in its original position through the entire cutting operation. Some users call it a "Feather Board Plate" without the force to pinch the stock into the saw blade.

Tube Notching Made Simple

Simple steps creating a perfect notch and getting most out of your tube notcher.

http://www.medfordtools.com/tube_notching_101.html

A basic notch starts with laying up the tube where you want the joint. Temporarily secure it so the tube can be easily marked so it can be correctly placed into the notcher. Position yourself to view both tubes at the intersection from a right angle perspective so you can accurately mark both the centerline of the tube (to be notched) and the intersecting point(s). The more accurate the marks - the better the resulting notch will fit. Always mark the point of intersection on the obtuse (or greater) angle side as shown in the picture.

My Big Fat Greek Coffee

This morning I had the privilege having a wonderful cup of Greek coffee in the most unusual of places… the back of a service vehicle in the parking lot of Medford Tools and Supply. My barista... Britt Parsons, owner of Britt Gutters.

While talking to Britt about our ongoing gutter redo project, I couldn’t help but notice a wide array of little pots, burners, and fancy Italian coffee cups. They stood out amongst the other metal bending and forming equipment on the vehicle. The aroma was that of the finest gourmet coffee shop. Our conversation soon turned to coffee as he offered to make me a cup.

I’ve never had Greek coffee before, and learned that Greek coffee is made from freshly roasted beans ground just before brewing. A traditional small copper pot (briki) is used to briefly boil the grounds and water allowing for the proper amount of foam, which adds to the unique taste. Just as the coffee comes to the boil, the pot is removed from the heat, allowed to cool, and then poured into a cup.

The flavor was amazing! I can honestly say that it was one of the best cups of coffee I have ever had.

Coffee isn’t the only thing Britt does with quality, our gutters are looking great too. What I found unique about Britt Gutter, is that they were equipped with both the material, AND the equipment to bend to shape. This saves time by eliminating the need to prefabricate the material before heading out to the jobsite.

For a job well done and a great cup of coffee… Thank you to Britt Gutters
